Red River Flood 2009
Life is always interesting in Grand Forks. Every year the Red River likes to make a fuss, and this year the river is really showing its might. It is an amazing sight to see but an uneasy feeling quickly replaces the awe. I was able to hop over the levy to snap a few photos before rising waters are too high. As of 3:30pm on Thursday the water levels were at 46.48 ft. with a crest of 50 to 53 ft on Sunday or Monday. Go check out the live webcam to see what the Red is up to.
The fancy new flood wall that should protect the city up to 60 ft.
This marker shows the levels of some of the major flood levels in Grand Forks. The top represents the flood of ’97.
The snow just won’t stop! Over the past few days we have received over 6 inches.

Best of…Part III
I have been running around the last couple of months shooting all of the athletic events for the University of North Dakota. Everything from soccer to swimming, even some baseball already!
I think this one is funny. It looks like he shattered the boards, but he didn’t. No hockey players were harmed in the making of this photo.

Fall Colors
After a few long months Shawna and I got a weekend off. She headed off to the lake and I took a lovely drive to Itasca State Park in Minnesota to take in the fall colors. I couldn’t think of a better way to spend a Saturday then driving amongst the foliage and listening to Newton Faulkner. I couldn’t ask for a more perfect day. The sun was out, the temp was pleasant and the colors were breathtaking. Here are a few, ok, a lot of photos. Wish you were here to see them Mom!
The winding, colorful road through Itasca.

To a Star-Bright Future
Today starts a new chapter for me. I have recently left my barista job at Caribou Coffee and will doing photography full-time. I am very excited! I will have more time to blog, I promise! My website received a much needed update and I have a new iMac on the way! Expect a fun post on that one!
Shawna and I have been quite busy the last few months. I will have a “Best of” wedding post from this summer very soon. And get ready for a lot of UND photos! Stay tuned, lots to come.
To hold you over:
While visiting my family in Colorado there was a crystal clear night when I snapped this photo form the deck. You really can see the Milky Way! It’s awesome! I know I am a nerd.

Summertime in Colorado
I was able to get away for about a week from our busy summer to hang out with my parents and brother in Colorado. We did lots of four-wheeling, eating, fishing and played lots of cards. I am the cribbage king!
My brother climbing to the top
Imogene Pass, the second highest in Colorado.
Just some water hazards.
Nothing like carving a road out of a mountain.
The Hummingbirds were crazy at my parents house. At one time there must have been 15 fighting to get some tasty sugar water. Mmmm
On top of the Grand Mesa. Looks like Northern Minnesota at 10,000 feet.
